Ecological Heating Methods in Iwate

Iwate may have a cold climate, but its bountiful natural surroundings provide it with numerous ways to ecologically heat our homes. Putting all these methods together result in a cozy warmth that is truly Iwatean.

Geothermal

Japan is a volcanically-active country, so it makes sense to use a little bit of that geothermal energy for heating. Pumps are installed that transfer the heat from underground to houses and public facilities.

Wood-chip burning stove

Wood chips and pellets are the byproducts of our lumber industry - cutting down trees and shaping them into furniture and what not will leave a bit of timber left. Those wood chips, pellets, and charcoal can be used in special stoves. Waste not, want not, I always say.

Solar and Wind

These methods can’t be used directly for heating, but the electricity generated by solar and wind can be used to power appliances. Many people attach solar energy panels to their homes to heat their water for baths.
